Who Wore It Better: Paris VS Rihanna

Rihanna wore this Alexander Wang dress (she’s been wearing a lot of Alexander Wang lately) in London and Paris Hilton wore one to a taping of Letterman yesterday.

Rihanna VS. Paris

So who wore it better?

I actually think it’s a tie.  I usually am not a fan of Paris’ fashion choices as there are more misses then hits with this girl but I kinda like the addition of the necklace.  With Rihanna I like that she let the dress speak for itself and kept it under accesorised.

Seen on the Scene: Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic

The Veuve Clicquot  Manhattan Polo Classic took place on Saturday and the stars and socialites came out to see Prince Harry on his first offical U.S. visit.

Attendees included Kate Hudson, Chloë Sevigny and Madonna and her boy toy of the moment Jesus Luz.

Below are the hits and misses of the event starting with Chloë Sevigny.

Chloe Sevigny in Chloe

Chloe Sevigny in Chloe

This is a very Chloë Sevigny-esque outfit.  Though she looks a bit like Mary Poppins from the bust up I still like the outfit.  The scalloped-edged shorts and the hat are whimsical and the strappy shoes add just enough edge to avoid the “lady who lunches” look.  My opinion, however,  maybe biased because I LOVE the film Mary Poppins.

Next are Rachel Roy and Veronica Webb.

Shall I start with the good or the bad?  While I think Rachel Roy is a very lovely lady and I really like her designs her fashion sense leaves much to be desired.  The only salvageable parts of this ensemble is her haircut, sunglasses and smile.

On the other hand I really like Veronica Webb’s outfit.  Though it may be a little to casual for the event I think she looks ver casual-chic.  I really like the nude on nude colours with gold accents and the tuxedo detailing on the front of her halter top.

Next we have Hilary Rhoda in what looks like a Miss Davenport halter linen dress.

Hilary looks very California cool in this outfit.  I only have two issues: that black chain strap bag doesn’t go with the outfit and maybe she too is dressed a bit to casually for the event.  But other than that I have no qualms.  I even like the gold men’s watch that she’s wearing.

Lastly, we have Donna Karan (with her daughter Gabby Karan DeFelice).

I love Donna Karan’s entire outfit.  It’s a very age appropriate outfit which doesn’t add on years.  And I.Love.Those.Necklaces.

What do you think?  Who would you vote best dressed of the event?

Quote, Unquote…

“You’re never disappointed by your imagination, but you can be very disappointed by reality.”

-Karl Lagerfeld

I’ve been quoting The Kaiser quite a bit in the “Quote, Unquote…” section but I can’t help it.  He is one of the most quotable people in fashion.

Martin Margiela Has Left the Building?

Rumours circulating the fashion world and the internet are saying that Martin Margiela (the avant-garde Belgian fashion designer) of Maison Martin Margiela has left the label.

Last season it was said that he had taken on a part-time consulting role and now the design team is saying that he has not been present since last season.
