Beauty | Rest, relaxation and pampering during blogger day at Dove Spa

This year has been a very busy one for me so it was nice to be able to relax and enjoy a day at Dove Spa (1375 Yonge St.) with some of the blogger mafia. I joined Chenessa Lam (Style Empire), Spiro Mandylor (It’s All Style to Me), Chantel Bedward (Pink Mafia) and Sarah Francis (Real Life Runway) at the spa chain’s uptown location to tour the facilities and try out some of the calming beautifying treatments that Dove Spa has to offer.

Located in uptown Toronto near Yonge and St. Clair, the Dove Spa is a calming oasis that focuses on nurturing both the inner and outer beauty of both men and women. The walls of the Ramsin Khachi-designed spa (you may know him as a design expert on CityLine) are peppered with beauty quotes from the likes of notables like Italian screen siren Sophia Loren and sexy swine Miss Piggy. The spa is a luxuriously minimalist space that both male and female clients can feel comfortable in.

While at the spa I received a 15-minute Skin Talk scientific skin analysis where one of Dove Spa’s spa technicians measure the oil, water, elasticity and pigmentation of your skin to diagnose your skin type and condition on that day. This complimentary service is performed using a multi-dermascope and is done each time you visit the spa for a facial to ensure that you receive the right skin treatment for your evolving skin type and needs.

After the skin analysis (and my soothing blooming tea) I changed into my Dove Spa robe and slippers in the minimalist change rooms with electronic lockers and then went to one of their treatment rooms. The treatment rooms are as chic as the common areas of the spa and feature larger-than-average heated, adjustable massage tables and a built-in stereo system that allows you to choose from four different genres of music (I opted for Jazz/R&B). I received an hour-long personalized hydrating facial using Dove’s Quench Collection of skin care products (and lots of soothing heated towels) that rubbed, buffed, massaged and cleansed my skin and left me literally glowing. Each facial also comes with a complimentary “treat” and I opted for the relaxing foot scrub (hey, just because summer is over doesn’t mean you neglect your feet).

After our spa treatments we each received a personal “prescription” from our Skin Care Experts that included our skin diagnosis results as well as a list of products to use for my specific skin type. The products can be purchased at the spa which also sells nail polish and makeup.

I really enjoyed my experience at the Dove Spa and I would definitely return. In addition to facials, they also offer full spa services including body treatments (Chantel recommends the Bamboo Massage) in either their single or couple rooms, hair removal, holistic therapy, nail care, teeth whitening, makeup services and experiences like the Time To Get Together package for you and a friend, family member or significant other.
