12 Days of Christmas Countdown | Day 2: Fluorescent Marc by Marc Jacobs python satchel

When I think of 2011 two of the bags that stand out in my mind are the neon Cambridge Satchel and the Proenza Schouler PS1 (and the Celine Classic and Luggage tote too). I really like both bags because of their structured utilitarian aesthetic (my obsession with the PS1 is well documented on this blog) so I was pleased to find a wonderful hybrid of the two. The second item on my 12 Days of Christmas Countdown wish list is the fluorescent Marc by Marc Jacobs python satchel ($535 at Nordstrom).

The neon satchel is the love child of the PS1 and the Cambridge satchel and combines the best elements of the two to create a standout utilitarian piece. The bag is roomy enough to carry all the things I normally schlep around with me and standout enough, with the bright fluorescent yellow hue and python-embossed leather, to be a statement piece for many outfits to come. And the bag would go perfectly with my neon pink fringe earrings.
