Fashion | H&M Spring/Summer 2012 preview

Old Man Winter and I have a very rocky relationship―he hates me and I hate him―so I seize any and every opportunity to escape the frigid temperatures and pretend that summer isn’t seven months away. That’s what I did when I attended the H&M Spring/Summer 2012 preview at the brand’s Toronto headquarters (and got a peek at the Versace for H&M collection too).

For the upcoming spring and summer H&M is exploring tailored and fluid silhouette’s “with a mix of modern tailoring and romantic femininity” with a warm weather palette of whites and neutrals alongside yellows, oranges, apple green, apricot and blues.

It seems that the H&M aesthetic has matured as the designs are much more refined and fashion forward. Cotton, jersey, silk, leather, organza and linen are featured throughout and are used to make stylishly desirable pieces (I’m looking at you chartreuse organza dress and white leather outfit).

As per usual, the jewellery and accessories did not disappoint. Jewel coloured suede figured heavily in the accessories section of the collection as booties, pumps and structured handbags dominated the scene while enamel and resin were seen on bracelets, rings, necklaces and eyewear.

I’m an H&M junky and I cannot wait for summer when I can escape the drab, grey Canadian winter and embrace H&M’s colourfully chic version of summer.
