I’ve always avoided lipstick because I felt my lips were too big to wear anything bolder than a sheer lipgloss so it was with great trepidation that I attended the Lancôme launch of the Rouge In Love lipstick collection.
The soon-to-be-released lipstick collection is comprised of 24 shades that are further divided into three smaller collections of eight shades representing the different moments in the day: Jolis Matins, for the office; Boudoir Time, for later afternoon; and Tonight Is My Night for an exciting evening out.
The Jolis Matins sub-collection is made up of sheer hues with tone-on-tone pearl particles for just a hint of colour.
The Boudoir Time spectrum is a semi-sheer collection that uses contrasting pearl particles for a more pronounced lip.
Tonight Is My Night is a fuller pigmented collection of opaque lipsticks that uses gold pearls to highlight the lips. Each lipstick is lightweight and uses a formula that offers 6 hours of hydration and colour.
I tried Boudoir Time’s Violette Coquette (above) and Tonight Is My Night’s Rouge In Love (below) shades and I can attest to the long-lasting, weightlessness of the shades. The beauty of the collection is that it is a nice easing in collection for lipstick neophytes because the shades range from sheer to hyper-pigmented, work on all skin tones, are lightweight, glide on easily and are buildable (so you can layer one shade on top of another for a quick lip change throughout the day).
