Fashion | Valentino Spring 2011 couture collection

It seems that youthful femininity and airy lightness are emerging themes this season and Valentino co-designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri have tapped into that trend via a virginal Spring 2011 couture collection that was full of pale, blush tones, fluttering butterflies and flowers and, of course, trademark Valentino ruffles.

Floor-length skirts in tone-on-tone checks, pleats and folds were paired with flat shoes (another emerging trend) while breezy dresses were paired with butterfly chokers.

Though the collection was full of plunging necklines and sheer dresses there was a ladylike primness to it with deep v-necks tempered with full skirts while sheer gowns were countered with delicate appliqué flowers. While this wasn’t a grand, extravagant couture collection I really enjoyed the teasing, seductive note to the designs.
