Quick Hits: Fall 2011 Haute Couture Review – Jean Paul Gaultier

It pains me to type/say this but I didn’t like Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture collection. There were individual looks that I really enjoyed but as a whole it was a bit of a disaster.

Much of the collection looked like an amateur outing to me, something that the mind of Lindsay Lohan would create. The collection was disjointed, clumsy and lacked cohesion. The velvet pasties, the abuse of sheer fabric, the bad 80s/70s reinterpretations, hits of gypsy not-so-chic and the Maison Martin Margiela moments were more than I could bear. Even Dita Von Teese, the world famous burlesque dancer, couldn’t save the show in a clumsy corset.
