Seen On The Scene: 2010 MTV Movie Awards

Last night were the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and the stars – of both music and the silver screen – came out to play.

I wasn’t exactly impressed with anything that I saw on the red carpet. I wish I could say the outfits looked safe (which is not a compliment) but they didn’t. Even Katy Perry’s spangly number with the horrible blue wig looked a little blah (especially since we’ve seen Britney Spears, Pink and Beyonce in similar numbers minus the Lil Kim/Nicki Minaj wig).

The formerly curvy actress Scarlett Johansson wore head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana – a green lace strapless dress with black satin peep-toe pumps. Safe.

Cameron Diaz wore a gams baring floral water colour print Diane Von Furstenberg dress with black Jimmy Choo peep-toe booties. Safe.

Paris Hilton wore a cream strapless satin and feather Blumarine dress while Nicki opted for a more demure pale turquoise Missoni dress with Jimmy Choo sandals. Safe but nice.

Eva Mendes decided to wear a sequinned Stella McCartney one-shoulder dress (sparkly shapeless potato sack?) with Roger Vivier Prisme clutch and platform sandals. I love the purse. Everything else? Not so much.

Jessica Biel opted for a Giambattista Valli dress with black sandals. I’m not really sure what to think about this dress. While I like the textures on the skirt I think it could have been a little shorter. And I’m not a fan of the top part of the dress.

Sandra Bullock wore a sequined Oday Chakar minidress with tan Christian Louboutin heels. This is actually one of my favourite looks of the night. While it is very simple it works for Bullock.

Katy Perry wore a tulle embellished Zuhair Murad dress with grey and yellow Rock & Republic Lotus platforms. As I said earlier (see above) this look has been done before and this “daring” look just looks stale.

Christina Aguilera brought the drama in an Atelier Versace “mullet” dress with YSL Tribs. Christina looks amazing. I think she, along with Sandra Bullock, is the only one who understood what event they were attending.

And last but definitely not least is Lindsay Lohan. La Lohan wore a sequined Pamella Roland jumpsuit with a plunging neckline. I’ll be nice and let you decide what you think of this look.

What do you think of the red carpet fashion choices at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards? Who struck gold and who just struck out?
