Christian Lacroix Won’t Go Down Without a Fight

As we have all heard Christian Lacroix has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.  Christian Lacroix, the designer, has vowed to do everything in his power to keep the label from having to close.  He announce to his 125 that employees that he has been working for free for several months (that is dedication and sacrifice) and is owed $1.7 million dollars for his work at the house.

Christian Lacroix, which is known for it’s extravagant couture and dramatic often theatrical styles, has never turned a profit in its 22 year history.  The label terminated it’s ready-to-wear line and the labels fragrancee license was not renewed past 2010.

    It’s a shame really – why is it always the most worthwhile and creative undertakings are not profitable?

    I think I shall add Christian Lacroix to public health systems and national infrastructures programs as proof the inapplicability of economics to real life!
