Beauty | Essie’s Mirror Metallics 2012 collection (A Review and Swatches)

As a self-professed nail polish addict I am always on the look out for new and interesting nail polish shades, top coat effects and other nail goodies. While I’ve got loads of jellies, creams, neons and pastels my selection of metallic nail polishes could use a bit of a boost. That’s where Essie Cosmetics and the newly released Mirror Metallics collection comes in.

The Mirror Metallics collection is composed of five mirrored chrome nail polishes in Penny Talk, a creamy rose gold; Nothing Else Metals, a soft and shimmery lilac; No Place Like Chrome, a “richly oxidized nickel”; Blue Rhapsody, a luxe baby blue; and Good As Gold, a pale gold that I used for my Bindi Nail Art post.

Essie’s Mirror Metallics nail polishes are great one-coater lacquers (the opacity of the polishes make them perfect for nail art) that dry quickly. The shades are muted metallics but their shine factor can be punched up with a high-shine top coat if that’s your thing.

One of the only downsides that I noticed with the Essie Mirror Metallics collection was that the polishes can be a little streaky. This, however, can be minimized by reducing the amount of strokes you use to apply them.

The Essie Mirror Metallics polish retail for $9.99 and are available at Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, professional salons and other major retailers across Canada.

VERDICT: I love the polishes and will definitely be including them in my manicures though I’ll avoid using them as my base shade due to the streak factor. Penny Talk is my absolute favouritest shade (I’m having a rose gold moment).
