Fashion | The rumours are true: Maison Martin Margiela is the latest high-end brand to collaborate with H&M

The internet was atwitter yesterday with rumours that Maison Martin Margiela, the conceptual fashion label, was the latest brand to collaborate with H&M. Well, ladies and gents, the rumours are true and the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection will hit the shelves of H&M stores worldwide on November 15, 2012!

“We are very happy to present Maison Martin Margiela pieces with H&M, to offer a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further,” said Maison Martin Margiela. “We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise everyone.”

There was a lot of chatter on Twitter yesterday―negative, positive and surprised―about the collaboration. I, myself, was worried that MMM jumped the shark, however, as a woman whose fashion budget is lacking a few zeroes I truly appreciate the idea of democratic fashion that is accessible to everyone regardless of salary, trust fund or allowance.

So the question is: will you be lining up for this one?

Update: Here is a promo add for the collaboration. Thanks for the heads up Julio Reyes of Fashionights!
